Asmah is an accomplished leader with a strong background in museum management and community engagement. As General Manager of the Malay Heritage Centre, she fosters meaningful connections with the community locally and internationally through the Centre’s programmes and initiatives such as workshops, lectures and exhibitions that cater to the needs and interests of the community. Her role also involves creating platforms where community members feel welcomed and valued, allowing for dialogue, collaboration, and shared experiences that celebrate and preserve Malay heritage and culture. Asmah is also a board member of the International Council of Museum (ICOM) committee for education, which highlights her influence and expertise in advancing cultural understanding and appreciation in the community through innovative approaches.
From September 2024, Asmah will be appointed as the Director of Children’s Museum Singapore, the first museum in Singapore dedicated to children 12 years old and below.
